Dia: BEACON
More than a month ago, the Dia Center opened Dia:Beacon, a new museum in Beacon, New York, to house its renowned collection of art from the 1960s to the present. The museum is located in a former printing plant built in 1929 by Nabisco (National Biscuit Company). With nearly 300,000 square feet of interior space, the building is sited on thirty-one acres on the banks of the Hudson River. If you're in the New York area, this museum is a must, for the art shown, for how it is shown, and for the place itself, a model of early-twentieth-century industrial architecture designed by Nabisco’s staff architect Louis N. Wirshing, Jr.
